We had so much fun last weekend with Ashley and Will. These two high school sweethearts picked Kennesaw Mountain Battlefield National Park as their engagement location because it was exactly where Will had proposed just a few months earlier in the middle of a snowstorm! Will had a mutual friend attempt to go to the top of the mountain before he walked there with Ashley to document the proposal but it was closed off due to the storm. Despite the weather and change in location, Will was determined to ask Ashley that day because he just couldn’t wait (yes, our hearts were melting as he said those words out loud). Will proposed to her in the very field we walked through, and Ashley pointed out the exact spot she said “YES!”
There is something about being in a place you know and love that relaxes all the right spots and really makes our job easy as photographers. We recently wrote about this here, but on top of that, there is something very special about documenting a session in a location that has a special meaning to a couple, and we do not take that for granted. Not only do we get to know our couple better before the big day, but we come away with a much deeper understanding of their love story as they write it. We are always so humbled by the glimpse into their special moments and feel so privileged to be a part of their biggest adventure yet.
Several months after the big snowstorm proposal, despite the cold, Ashley smiled ear to ear as Will twirled her around and stole kisses in between each pose. I would catch Isaac saying, “Can you just do that again?”, or “One more time”. Because honestly being themselves was the most romantic thing these two could do!
Congratulations again Ashley and Will! We can’t wait to be celebrating their marriage this July!
Big hugs and lots of love,
Isaac and Amanda
