Connecting with our couples is without a doubt our favorite part of what we do, but every once in a while we are granted the opportunity to work with someone we already know well. These sessions let us get a new view into couples that we may see all the time or in this case with a childhood friend that we haven’t seen in years.
Amanda grew up on Long Island with Emily, spending each summer sailing together at the Bayberry Yacht Club aka “The Shack”. Bayberry wasn’t your typical yacht club- think of it as the Little Rascals meets the Great South Bay and that is the epitome of “The Shack”. It was a sailing camp run by kids for kids. There was running bases, greasy watermelon, tennis ball tag and regattas. Emily was Amanda’s partner in crime as one of the few girls. So when she got engaged and reached out we were ecstatic! We are so honored that we had the chance to document this very special milestone.
Emily’s love of the water led her to meet Kyle at SUNY Maritime in the Bronx, New York. Kyle stood out to Emily because of his ability to make her laugh. These two have had so many adventures together from voyaging across the ocean to Europe, and back. Living in different states that could almost be complete opposites (Alaska and Texas). And now beginning their lives together on the Florida coast.
What really stood out to us during our time together capturing their engagement session, and catching up over dinner is that they are one of the most joyful couples we have ever met. They kicked off their shoes and embraced the sand, waves and SERIOUS Beyonce wind. (No, really, just look at the pictures below.)
Emily and Kyle, thank you for believing in us and driving several hours from Florida just to meet us at Driftwood Beach, Jekyll Island. What we loved most about your engagement session was connecting with the two of you. So cheer’s to this sweet season, from our view it looks like you two only have smooth sailing ahead of you!
Big hugs and lots of love,
Isaac and Amanda
